Trequity Capital Launches TCL AgroBusiness Co-Operative Society.

Officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Co-operatives visited the headquarters of Triequity Capital (Nigeria) on Friday, March 2nd, 2018 to inaugurate the company’s co-operative society and umbrella body for all farmers and agro-allied entrepreneurs; and ratify the offices of the executive committee of TCL Agro-Allied Co-operative Society.
In his welcome address, the chairman of TCL Agro-Allied Co-operative Society, Mr. Basheer Tosin Ashafa, informed the assembly that the co-operative was set up to enable its members realize economic benefits that they could not otherwise achieve alone. “By pooling our financial and material resources, we will be able to develop new market opportunities, expand existing markets and empower agricultural entrepreneurs to improve their position in the marketplace.”
Speaking further, he said “Of utmost importance to us is the economic empowerment will create for people through our demonstration farm clusters. Our pilot bee-keeping farm is set to commence in Orugbo, Epe. The reality of Nigeria’s dwindling oil-dependent economy necessitates the need for recourse to agriculture and other viable businesses not dependent on the petro-dollar. We have engaged great minds as consultants in the agricultural value chain in order for us to benefit massively as we kick off.”
Other executives of TCL Agro-Allied Co-operative Society whose offices were ratified by the ministry include Mr. Edwin Aguddah (Secretary) and Mr. Wale Alabi (Treasurer). The head of the delegation from the ministry commended the co-operative’s officials for their efforts in complementing the government’s advocacy for a society where farmers and business people participate in the membership of co-operative societies to boost food production and enhance their revenue base.
The brief ceremony had thirteen foundation members in attendance who were joined by representatives of the co-operative’s legal firm.
